Silver Eye promotes contemporary photography and related media as a fine art form through the creation of museum quality exhibitions and programs that bring forward ideas and perspectives relevant to our times. Part Time Lab Manager
Silver Eye Center for Photography, seeks qualified candidates for the position of Silver Eye Lab Manager. The Lab Manager will be responsible for overseeing the operations of Silver Eye’s digital imaging facility, the Lab @ Silver Eye, and its educational programing, member access, exhibition production, business plan, and customer service needs. He or she will provide direct support to members, artists and will be responsible for financial reporting, point-of-sale reconciliation, and other lab-related business.
He or she will assess current business practices and develop, plan, and execute programming to achieve Silver Eye’s objectives. As part of budget management, the Lab Manager will recommend expenditures and maintain financial records. Other responsibilities include equipment management, invoicing customers, and purchasing supplies.
The successful candidate will be an individual who understands and champions the organization’s commitment to supporting artists. He/she will possess demonstrated skills and experience in all key areas, including digital photographic production, education, and entrepreneurship. The position requires the ability to work as part of a small team and the proven ability to take initiative. A working knowledge of photographic practices and techniques, including digital imaging, is a must.
The Lab Manager reports to and works closely with the Executive Director.
Education & Artist Member Access
Develop a targeted educational plan to serve the Silver Eye community and its members
Develop educational outreach programs that share photography with new communities
Develop a plan for lab membership and artist access for the facility
Lead lab production for in house exhibition printing, scanning, and framing
Lead client focused full-service production
Assist with exhibitions coordinating and installation from time to time
Work with the Executive Director to develop a revenue generating business plan for the lab
Research and develop a sustainable plan for delivering and pricing lab services
We are seeking highly qualified candidates who possess the above skills and qualifications, and we strongly encourage applications from individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds. BFA or equivalent experience with solid background in photography, Adobe Creative Cloud, fine art inkjet printing, and customer service is required.
This position will work on average of three days per week, evenings and weekends will be required. Compensation is commensurate with candidate’s experience in the range of $13-16/per hour.
